 Magellan Digitizing
Frequently Asked Questions
Can
I edit designs I already have that were digitized by someone else? Yes,
Magellan Digitizing allows you to make changes to your existing designs.
Does
the Magellan Digitizing system have automatic underlay features? If
so, how many underlay types are available? Yes, there are six
different types of underlay to choose from – contour, parallel, zig zag,
perpendicular, lattice and full lattice.
In
what formats can I digitize and edit? You can open almost all home
and commercial formats for editing. Designs
are automatically converted to a condensed format that allows maximum
flexibility to change stitch types, stitch direction, stitch length,
density, underlay, pull compensation and many other design aspects. When
digitizing, you are working in the Magellan condensed format (MAG), but
the design can be saved in almost any home or commercial format.
Does
the software offer automatic lock-downs and tie-offs? Yes,
you can automatically lock stitch each object.
Will
the program automatically recalculate the stitch count when I change the
size of a design? Yes, the stitches will be recalculated as a
design is enlarged or reduced.
Will
I be able to see designs in a 3-D view? What about simulating how
the design will sew on a machine? Yes, you can select 3-D view to
see your design in realistic view; and you can watch the design sewing
method as the design is redrawn in the sewing sequence.

formats does the software read and save in? The program can open
and save designs in most home and commercial formats.

the system come with any fonts? Yes, it includes two fonts and
upgrades are available for the 32 and 100+ font packages.

install per digitizing program purchased.

program updates offered? If
so, how much do they cost? Updates are available periodically on the Renaissance
website at no cost.

art formats will the program read? You can import most graphic
files, including raster artwork such as bmp and jpg, as well as most
Vector artwork types, including Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator files.

fills; and you can add over 200 embossed fills and 20 motif patterns when
used in conjunction with the Pattern Fill program (available separately).
Can
I manually insert trim commands, color changes and density changes after
the design has been digitized? Yes, you can add machine commands
and even reorder the color sequence just by dragging and dropping the
color chip to a new location in the sewing order.
